I have to admit, I never got around to reading the original Bartender manga. (I know, I’m stupid.) But hear me out: I was obsessed with the 2006 anime adaptation. Back in the day, I was this underage Otaku, so no sipping drinks for me. Still, there was just something so satisfying about watching Sasakura work his magic with those drinks. And I was also drawn to the whole philosophy the show had going on: “Every drink has a story, and every story has a drink.” (Back then, it sounded like the deepest thing ever.)
Now that I’m on the other side of the age limit and can finally belly up to a bar, my appreciation for Bartender has only grown.
