An abstract of “The boys” TV show
“The boys” is an amazon TV show based on the comic books of the same name placed in modern society.
On the surface, it’s a typical superhero show or but it has a layer of reality on heroes and what if they existed and even a more realistic view on our media and modern life, and it’s not afraid of mentioning uncomfortable topics. The show is also really graphic with gore and action scenes, making it more enjoyable for fans who are a bit tired of PG13 comic adaptations. The following short article mentions some of the topics that you might encounter in the boys quiz.
Characters
The main groups are “The boys” and “The seven.” “The boys” are the antihero vigilantes include Billy butcher, Mother milk, Frenchie, Hughie as the new guy. “The seven” is the group of cooperated heroes including Homelander, deep, A-train, Queen Maeve, and the new girl starlight.
Each character is connected to multi 2nd class characters. Still, almost every character has a good reason to be in the show, and actors do an amazing job of portraying their respective characters. Always, Butcher and Homelander shine more than everyone else.
Fun facts & The Boys Quiz
Here are some fun facts that we used a lot in the boys quiz. Some of them are comic-related, and some are the show’s Easter eggs and cameos.
Hugh
The character Hugh Campbell in the comic books was created for the actor Simon Pegg, but since the TV adaptation came out 13 years after the books, he was too old to cast as Hugh, but he casts as the father, and he did an excellent job of portraying the character.
Homelander
In the comics, Homelander is a clone of another well-known character, black noir. Although at the show’s current state, I don’t think that would be the case anymore.
Soldier boy
The characters soldier boy and Tek-knight mentioned multiple times on the show are based on Captain America and the Iron Man from Marvel, and there is a good chance at least one of them will be on the show in season 3.
Teck-knight
In multiple scenes throughout the season 1 and 2 people and main characters mention a hero name Tek-knight and so far from the comic books, he seems to be a corrupt version of Iron man from marvel like other characters.
Marketing guys
Throughout the show, we see two guys from the marketing department that have so little impact on the show but did you know they were named after the show’s minds, and it’s usually used as a nod to the people behind the scene.
Gore and violent
If you watched the show, you know this show won’t hold back on the violence, but did you know the original comics were much more graphic and far more willing to use story elements that most likely (probably for better) we never see on TV.
Zombies
In the comics, compound V has an effect that hasn’t been mentioned in the show so far, and that’s living after death, but not really. In the books, heroes would turn to mindless zombies after they died, and so far, we haven’t seen it in the books, although there was a mention of black noir becoming a brain-dead vegetable, that might be it.
Locations
Locations are something else that we used in the boys quiz so let’s talk about them. Some of the locations like the tower of the 7 are a direct rip-off from the tower of fantastic 4 or stark tower, but never the less that’s the show’s point. It tried to take comic concepts and make them more realistic. There are minor locations that are usually named after something in the real world or a direct mention of comics.
