The Therian self-test on this page helps you identify if you’re a humanized animal. Answer 15 questions to see if you’re another creature in a human’s body.

Sings You Might Be a Therian

You are a Therian if you experience these symptoms:

  • You go through Shifts. Shifts of sudden rushes of memories, emotions, or pure instinct that urge you to move or behave like an animal.
  • You have altered instincts. Therians report having above-average senses and amplified perception of their surroundings.
  • You have memories of past life as an animal. In some cases, Therians might remember bits of their previous lives as another creature.
  • Constant vivid dreams about being an animal. For a Therian, it’s common to have similar dreams in which they are living the normal life of a specific animal.

Therian Vs. Otherkin Explained

A Therian embodies an animal or, in some instances, the amalgamation of several animals while taking on human form. Therians experience a persistent inclination, referred to as Shifts, to exhibit behaviors characteristic of the animal(s) to which they are linked. An Otherkin, on the other hand, is an individual with a spiritual or supernatural affiliation to creatures beyond the human realm, encompassing mythical entities, fictional species, or even extraterrestrial life forms.

Within the Therian community, there are two subtypes: Polytherians and Paleotherians. A Polytherian is the soul of multiple animals in one body. A Paleotherian is a Therian who feels a strong connection to a whole clade of one specific species.

Therians and Otherkin differ from Furries. For a Furry, an anthropomorphized animal is like a fictional alter ego—they don’t necessarily identify as that creature. But in the case of Therians and Otherkins, they do indeed believe that their true identity is the animal or non-human being they are linked to.

Maybe You’re Just an Animal-Hearted

If you find yourself deeply connected to an animal or a group of creatures, you might be what’s known as animal-hearted. This term refers to humans who have a strong spiritual and emotional bond with animals. Not every extraordinary compassion for creatures necessarily makes you a Therian. You could simply be an incredibly passionate animal lover who cheers for all things nature.
